Never Too Young (or Small) to Save a Life

April 19th, 2011

This story is absolutely amazing! A 9-year-old boy named Tristin saved the life of his little sister using CPR. His sister was found floating in their grandmothers’ pool unconscious and not breathing. The girls mother pulled her out of the pool and went to call 9-1-1. Young Tristin jumped in and started performing CPR. Yeah, that’s right, this 9-year-old boy knew CPR. He said that he learned it by watching TV. So, all you parents out there…your children need to know CPR. You never know whose life they could save. It could be your son or daughter, even your own!

This report also highlights the importance of doing SOMETHING in an emergency, even if you have not been trained “officially” in CPR. I doubt very much that Tristin did CPR perfectly, but that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that he saved his sister’s life! Way to go Tristin!

So then, if you find a person that is unconscious and not breathing, start pushing hard and fast in the middle of their chest. It’s called hands-only CPR. It’s easy, effective, and can save someones life.

Surviving Cardiac Arrest – Dr. Oz

March 24th, 2011

We absolutely LOVE Dr. Oz here at My CPR Pros LLC. And a few weeks ago he aired two segments that discussed surviving cardiac arrest. The segments were great for raising awareness of the need for bystanders to look for and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) when they come upon someone in cardiac arrest. Check out the two segments below and then share your comments with us. Then, give us a call at 704.302.1055 to learn more about AEDs.
